I was here at CBH for 7 days and the staff was the sweetest and the groups were more helpful than the groups I had been in in other hospitals. Dr. T is the best. And RoseMarie needs a damn raise that's for sure. Then TINA AND AUSTIN were the sweetest!

I NEVER thought my expierence would be like this when i read the reviews of this place. It started with the nurses who contacted me throughout his stay to update us about medications and to let me know my son arrived tohis room. It was followed by his genuine treatment personal at the hospital. The doctor (dr teadickski?) spent an hour on the phone with us explaining his diagnosis, proper outpatient treatment and meds. His therapist (Jamie) had a heart of gold and very patient young girl too. LOL They were both so kind. We went to the music class during the weekend with our son and it was HILARIOUS (akeed) ran the group and we had so many laughs (even with my divorced husband LOL) watching him try to sing. My sons high school counselor had a similar expierence and she’s had a very pleasant expierence with CBH. I can’t tell you what a relief it was. Even the nice staff during visitations were personable and nice! ( some looked scary but were so kind )

We have had a great experience at CBH in the intensive outpatient (AKA partial hospitalization) program for our middle school kiddo. The case manager, the therapist, the transportation driver... EVERYBODY... has been timely, thorough, and empathetic in their communication with us. The intake process was a snap, and the intake coordinator and program manager did so much to help us feel ok about our need for this intensive service. They have recently arranged for our kid to return to his school with a solid plan in place. Most importantly, our kiddo has participated in this program more than any program in the past- so we know it's working and he tells us he feels really good about it. Our family will definitely access this service again when a "tune-up" inevitably becomes necessary.

I was inpatient womens floor then they transferred me to 2IT (intensive treatment) Dr. Khan was the best doctor on my floor. He got me off 2IT for my safety got me back to woman's unit. Overall if you give this place a chance it works!

My 16 year daughter rates this place 3 stars because the conditions of the adolescent unit, but the staff was great!! Especially TINA and AUSTIN, they really do a great job! And really care about the patients!

My son was admitted to the adolescent unit after an attempted suicide. It was his first hospitalization, and my stomach was in knots because of the reviews I read online. I was so afraid because my baby had never been away from home before and I knew on top of his depression, he was scared. I cried and begged to take my baby home with me. I’m not writing this review to convince you what an amazing place this hospital is because I know each experience differs, but I am writing to say thank you to the amazing people who were able to help and teach my son that his life is worth living. Dr. Bhutt and Jamie were accommodating, timely, and so gracious to work with. I appreciate them more than words can describe. My son told me the staff were funny, empathetic and made him feel at home. He also told me his SW bought the unit books and coloring books to help make them feel at ease. He was put on anti-depressants and is able to socialize again with his friends and family. The adolescent staff was so nice during visitations. There was one staff that even helped translate for my mother when she came to visit him. He sat during visitation and helped her communicate with the staff. I was proven wrong and I hope this encourages others to not turn away from this place. Thank you Chicago Behavioral Hospital.

They’ve done wonders with my son!!! He actually gets to come home this coming August..... & he hasn’t been with us since May 2013!! We’ve been very blessed to have been able to work with the staff @ Maryville!!

I agree with the poster above. My daughter was in here twice. At first I was extremely anxious as she had only been in the "hopsital" based treatment centers. This was an actual psychiatric hospital and having read the reviews, was like UGH. But there were also good ones, figuring most of the time people only take time to write reviews when they are disgruntled. But it was the only place that had a bed available and she needed treatment. From the minute we got her in there, the staff was very supportive. I only got visiting two days a week, but that's because this is a mental hospital. They are in there getting better! Sometimes that unfortunately requires some time in solitude or removed from the stresses of everyday life which very often come in the form of family and friends unfortunately. She never had a bad word to say about food and I even ate lunch there once on a family day. I mean no, not a five star restaurant, but not unedible, horrible food. She always talked well about the staff and got alot out of her time there. Even the social worker and principal at my daughters school mentioned that they were impressed with how professional CBH staff seemed and they had dealt with alot of staff from various hospitals, but had never dealt with CBH. I'm sure there are bad experiences and there can be bad experiences anywhere, but I just wanted to say that our experience, not just once, but she went there twice, and both times were very good. Aesthetically the place could use some work/updating, but again. that's not why they're there.

After reading these reviews, I felt like I need to write this to get some of these people to understand something... THIS IS A F&%KING PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL, NOT A 2 WEEK VACATION!!! You go here to learn to cope with your mental issues and get your meds straight, not to have a nurse rub your back and hold your hand as you walk down the hallway. The reason why someone is here is because they said they were either homicidal, suicidal, experiencing manic symptoms, or all the above. The list of Boo-Hoo's: - the beds are tough, its dirty, food is no good: all characteristics irrelevant to a psychatric hospital. - Nurses are rude: yeah, they're not your friends, their NURSES -Group therapy is worthless: You get out what YOU put into it -They make you stay long: If you show no progress, then why the hell would they discharge you -I get my meds late: Late as in how YOU see it, or how the doctor prescribed it?? It's a tough world out there, people. Maybe this does need to be explained to you. How many of these people who posted comments have been regularly admitted into psychiatric hospitals?? If many of them have NOT, then guess what, I guess CBH worked out after all.

My father has been a patient at CBH 2x both times saved his life. To this day he still talks about what good food they had 😂. My mother went to visit him often which lead to her becoming a nurse there. I’m really surprised by these reviews. My mother stays late just to take the time to talk with her patients. She comes home and advocated for them. She is constantly collecting books and clothes for the homeless that come in with hospital gowns and nothing else. She shares all her goodness and love with her patients. Even after often being spit on cleaning urine and feces off the floors and walls or herself as some patients do throw these things. She is called fowl and ugly things by patients demanding to be over medicated and most patients refuse most of the treatment. They stay in their room refuse medication groups even seeing doctors. It is clear people that leave positive reviews came in for help took it and left for the better. Every institution has horrible reviews. People rarely take the time to mention positives but will always force the negative. Hoping to become a nurse someday myself I would like to say any nurse that delivers medications hours late or not at all has their license on the line. Believe me. Nobody works so hard to become a nurse to just blow off their duty like so many people say on these reviews. It makes me sick to think these people are saying these things about nurses which could include my mom. With psychology as a minor study of mine I am comfortable saying take these reviews with a grain of salt. Most Psych patients are there to avoid jail or homelessness. This is not a medical hospital. It’s behavioral Health. People are brought in sick psychotic delusional needing serious mental intervention. Of course people signed into an institution by family or police are not going to be happy. None of these reviews mention the staff works sometimes 15 hour shifts to make sure everything and everybody is taken care of. They work through brakes never sit eat or go to the bathroom during a shift because of the demand mental health patients have. They miss family occasions and holidays to take care of their patients. Mental health staff is like no other profession on the earth it takes a special kind of person to be abused by patients everyday and still come back everyday And try to be the change in someone’s life. It’d be nice tif we could ask these people why they were there. And how many times have they been institutionalized in hospitals or jails. If you need help get it. If you are forced maybe you should look at the reasons why. CBH from what I have seen is full of good staff and has positive outcomes.

I've had to stay on this hospital twice, the first time could've been better, but the second time was very calming. I had no issues whatsoever and my staying here was surprisingly pleasant. At points it didn't feel so forced and made the staying very good. Everyone was so polite and nice
